Mo Jones - Therapeutic Counselling - Brighton and Hove
"Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses your understanding." Khalil Gibran
I am a qualified Humanistic Integrative Counsellor which means I work from a Person Centred Foundation integrating other modes of counselling such as CBT, Gestalt, Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis, Existential philosophy, Mindfullness and Focussing.
Over the years my style has grown to encompass other approaches of counselling. I also practice Compassion Focused Therapy, which can be especially useful when working with anxiety and the self-critic. Here we explore the impact of the threat and self protection system (fight, flight, freeze behaviours). And work to reduce difficult feelings such as shame, build compassionate qualities and cultivate a self-soothing system.
I also incorporate Attachment theory during my work in order to uncover and understand the dynamics within family relationships and romantic partnerships. This can be especially helpful when looking to change patterns of behaviour and facilitate growth in close relationships.
In my work as Substance Mis-Use Counsellor I also use Motivational Interviewing and Brief Solutions Focussed Therapy. This style of counselling involves using various questions to discover alternative views of a situation in order to release or re-frame difficult emotions and move forward in life.
During my work with CRUSE Bereavement Care I received in depth training on coping with bereavement and loss. I have extensive experience holding the space for clients coming to terms with the profound pain of grief, loss and isolation.
I am also qualified in providing Online Counselling. This may take the form of e-mails, instant messaging or Skype. Counselling online offers anonymity, flexibility around timings and convenience if you are unable to leave your home, live remotely or you are uncomfortable with working face to face.
I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I am also on the BACP's register of Proficiency and I work within
The Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling.
I have wide range of experience working with people encountering:-
